Liferay Symposium 2009 - Day 2

Act 5 - T-Mobile

A very nice reference production: http://www1.t-mobile.cz/web/en/home

Replatforming full front and CMS.

Formerly a tangle of PHP,. Net, various CMS and Portals.

Choice of Liferay in early 2008. In active production since early 2009.

  • Front Liferay (5.1 EC)
  • Alfresco CMS (requirements and workflows schedulling advanced) integrated
  • Integration with Portlets via legacy (Selfcare assistance)
  • Integrations via light Portlets with eCommerce (ATG)
  • Autonomy search engine
  • Deployments web + mobile (xhtml)

Numbers:

  • 200 pages in Liferay / Alfresco
  • Peaks at 3000 users / hour
  • Large distributed infrastructure (Alteon / Apache) with two end clusters 2 bipro Intel Liferay servers (1 for web / in a DMZ for Intranets)

Benefits:

  • Completely streamlined infrastructure of J2EE
  • The business took on new tools to grips (CMS notament)
  • Rapid development and marketing of new services

Applications vs Liferay:

  • Very pleased with the platform
  • Demands on the management side moving back-office
  • Demands on the insulation of Portlets to avoid bringing down the system if one Portlet fails

Comment:

  • A team that has demonstrated its ability to deliver quality in reduced budgets while management wanted to Owner
  • Another example of Internet platform pooled for Liferay, we are no longer in the early adopter phase / single projects. There is now talk of shared platform of reference.
